Can't Pronounce the Ingredient? You Probably Should Avoid It All Together

You may think turkey bacon is healthier than its "oinking" cousin, (though the calorie difference between the two is actually negligible), but both bacons are very high in sodium, and contain a similar list of chemical preservatives and artificial flavorings.

The Atkins diet frowns on any artificial ingredients (found in most processed foods). Though non-Atkins scientists are of mixed opinions on the use of these chemicals in our food (the FDA says that they’re fine), if you want to strictly follow the Atkins system, you should keep it in mind that Atkins considers their use to be less than healthy.
